Taccia Lamp (Small) by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for FLOS

Donated by FLOS

Designed by famed Castiglioni brothers, the original 1958 design of the Taccia table lamp was made of transparent plastic – an idea discarded since the heat of the light source deformed it. In 1962, FLOS manufactured the luminaire with its now famous blown glass bowl. Its base is made of extruded aluminum – this one, with a bronze finish – and has a LED source. Its light can be adjusted by positioning the glass diffuser to the desired spot. Taccia is a shining example of the way Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni applied a minimalist approach to refurbishing everyday objects. This mini version features a slick black base.

Designers: Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
